La Providencia Atitlan is located about two hours from the capital, Guatemala City, on the shores of Lake Atitlan. Juan Francisco, the owner, also owns the wet-mill were his coffee is processed. This ensures that the coffee gets treated in the best manner. On the farm, forest area is maintained to provide shade for coffee plants, and natural fertilizer created from coffee pulp and microorganisms is used to maintain the health of the coffee trees. Avocados are also grown on the farm to provide shade and extra income, and macadamia nuts as well. Currently, they are renovating the farm and are planting new trees, including the Bourboncito varietal. Juan Francisco is strongly committed to getting the highest quality from his land while maintaining strict environmental sustainability.
