Characteristics

There is good complexity and there is bad complexity. Algebra equations being the bad kind, Sheer is the good kind. At Elemental, we prefer to think of it as transparency through the complexity. Sheer is, indeed, a complex coffee. But the flavors, ohhh … the flavors, are so very discernable.

Current Bean

The Igutha is another truly special coffee from Kenya that is juicy and sweet. You will find notes of red currant, cherry, and lime carried by a great chocolate body.
Igutha is one of eight wet mills that make up the Rugi Farmers Cooperative Society which lies on the slopes of Mount Kenya in the central highlands. The Igutha mill is located in the Mukurweini district of the Nyeri county. 700 members in total contribute to the mill.  Each individual farm is about 1 acre and houses around 300 trees. The coffee is grown between 1400 and 1600 meters above sea level with a mix of SL28, K7, and Ruiru 11 varieties. Farmers hand-pick and deliver the coffee to Igutha the same day.  Once it reaches the mill it is hand-sorted again to insure only ripe cherries make it into processing.  After the coffee is fully washed it is carefully fermented and sundried before it leaves for the dry mill.
