DETAILS
Single Origin Espresso roast of natural Ethiopian Ardi from Guji, Sidamo.

The Mill is located in the Guji area of Sidamo zone, in the small town of Michicha. Ardi is a nick name given to this great coffee in honor of the 2 million year old hominid fossil from Ethiopia that was announced the same day of the first cupping of this coffee. Ardi represents the pinnacle of discovery and progress. This coffee has been awarded first place WINNER of all east African 2009 harvest competition.

This coffee is a special selection because:

  • harvesting only ripe cherry and spread on raised bed same day
  • moving the cherry every two hours for at least 15 to 17 days to ensure uniform drying
  • promptly screen-drying on raised beds, and extra steps in sorting the coffee after it is hulled.

This coffee differs from other dry-process Ethiopia coffees, which are often picked at the tail-end of the crop, bagged two three days or even for a week before drying and often dried on cement which results in uneven drying and often times, ferment.

This coffee gives up strawberries and jasmine, while the heavy body is juicy and creamy. You can find big fruit, some vanilla and cocoa and berries on the finish. Great in milk, great au natural. A beautiful espresso that is also beautiful as a French press.
